FINAL IDEA
After conducting research and analysing existing photographers work I now have my final plan for my response to the fourth and final brief. I found it particularly interesting when looking at other people’s version of ‘home’ which may or may not be different to my own interpretation. I have therefore decided to capture exterior shots of different styles of houses around Lincoln, comparing and contrasting the variety pieces of architecture. I feel a lot can be reflected about a persons home from the exterior of their house, such as how well-loved it is and maintained. After composing the photo shoot, during post-production I aim to create dynamic montages of the houses, creating artistic and abstract pieces. By combining different parts of houses each piece will overall present homes in Lincoln in addition to presenting my new university home city.
MONTAGE INSPIRATIONS
John Stezaker
English conceptual artist John Stezaker appropriates images he finds within magazines, books and postcards into his own pieces of work conveying his own poignant meanings. He overlaps famous faces particularly film stars to create unrecognisable and transformed portraits. The juxtapositions between male and female characters creates ‘hybrid icons’ which denote a ‘disjointed harmony’ and sense of surrealism.
David Hockney
David Hockney was an important contributor to the 1960’s pop art movement and is ‘considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century’. Hockney’s series of photo collages called the ‘Joiners’ consists of the arrangement of polaroids and coloured prints in patchwork formation, creating abstract final pieces.
